Who or what inspires you?
I think everyone has certain celebrity style icons they admire, but most of my inspiration comes from streetstyle blogs and other bloggers. I feel like real people, fearlessly exhibiting their own personal styles, give me confidence to just do and wear what feels good to me. Plus you can see new ideas as they are emerging for the first time and observe the birth and growth of a trend just by browsing blogs! It gives you the perspective that Fashion is a living organism that is morphing and adding on to itself every day.
2. What is your favorite piece in your closet?
My favorite, go to, never fails me item is my vintage pair of brown, heeled boots. They are a medium warm brown like milk chocolate, are leather with a swirl of suede and are just the right height. I can literally wear them with anything and feel like a rock star, boho princess, or urban goddess. And I got them for $6 at the Salvation Army.
3. Tell us about your personal fashion evolution.
I was always interested in clothes, and more specifically fabrics and colors, but after my son was born (4 and a half years ago) I really lost my ability to dress! I sort of lost touch with who I was for a time in a sea of everything baby. All of my personal style got put notI on a back burner, but in a tightly sealed Tupperware container in the bottom drawer of the freezer to later be defrosted and thrown away since I couldn’t even tell what it was anymore. Fashion blogs helped me to rediscover things I liked again. I would save pictures of things I loved in a folder on my desktop and analyze each element to discover what it was that drew me to it. Maybe a color, texture, fabric, drape, combination, layer. I watched blogs for a very long time before I decided to start my own. I feel like my blog boosted the evolution process even further. Dedicating myself to dress and post each day has made a huge impact on my confidence. I am still evolving though, and hope I continue to do so.
4. Tacos or Thai?
Can I have both? Probably Thai since there is a really great place near my house, but if I still lived in San Diego, tacos by far!
5. We want to know about you...
As boring as it may sound, my favorite place to be is at home! I have everything I need here! Like my own little island. My favorite thing to do at home is turn my music up loud, sing along, play dress up in my closet, and take pictures of myself! It is the weirdest most narcissistic thing I guess, but I love my own company so much! I was the oldest child of 4 and watched my younger siblings a whole lot as they were growing up (my brothers were babies while I was a teenager) then I worked full time and went to school full time in my late teens and early 20s so I sort of didn’t have time to be a silly teenager. My 20s were very busy as well, filled with more college and falling in love, my wedding and a house, career searching and LOTS of baby stuff. Now that I am 30, I am finding myself with the time and resources to just have fun and I try to take full advantage of all the fruits and security of my toil! It is wonderful!
